Antonio Cecere migrated to the United States on May 14, 1907 on the ship the Lazlo. He was 18 yrs old and sent here by his family to get an education. I am his grandaughter and we are looking for our Italian relatives world wide. We know that many of our family members went to Argentina. Many remained in Italy. Here is our history: Antonio was born to Giulio or Julio Cecere and Anna Panarese on March 7, 1889 in Sant`Arcangelo Trimonte, Benevento, Campania. We are not sure of who all his brothers and sisters were, but we know this as folklore. He was the youngest, and that he had one sister, her name is Maria. We know that he had the following brothers: Pellegrino, Guido, Giambattista, Luigi,   and most likely more. I have pictures of his last visit to Italy on this site.   My great great grandparents were Mario Panarese and Rosaria Chiuchiulo parents of Anna, and Anna Panarese and Giambattista Cecere, parents of Guilio. If you recognize these people, please contact us.

Salvatore Sarrica came from St Agatha Sicily in the Messina Province in 1909 (he had actually traveled back and forth several times) on the ship the Duca Degli Abruzzi out of Naples. His wife Fortunata Sidoti had stayed behind to care for their market. She finally came with their children on this last trip with Salvatore. When reaching America, Salvatore changed his name to Sarico to Americanize it, and the family settled in Minneapolis Minnesota. They had a total of 8 children. Fortunata Sidoti was the child of Rosa Amato (this was her second marriage, so Amato was not her maiden name) and Charles Sidoti. She had a brother, James, (may have settled in Chicago) and a sister Rosa. Rosa married a Siragusa and settled in Cleveland Ohio. Antonio Cecere married Serephina Sarico.

The music on these pages are Italian folk songs that we imagine our family singing when they lived in Italy and Sicily. If you wish to have more information about them, please contact us.
